Repurposed: Kitchen Table Tray

I am one of those people who likes to have everything out in the open where I can see it. I am more likely to wear earrings I can see, or use makeup I own, or eat food we have, etc. So I decided to make a little tray for the table in our kitchen, with everything neatly corralled and visible. Plus, I just like to show off all my fun little thrift & vintage finds!

From left to right:

+ Vintage little milk-glass shaker with orange flower, cinnamon

+ Antique upcycled lamp from lime oil jug

+ White owl (pair from Attica in Halifax) sea salt

+ Black owl, cinnamon sugar

+ Metal shaker (old roommate's), powdered sugar

+ Vintage turquoise grinder, rock sugar and vanilla

+ Repurposed clear grinder, pepper

+ Vintage pottery, spoon holder

+ Vintage gold-rimmed abalone coasters

The 70 Mile Yard Sale: The Finds

Now that our purchases from our 70 Mile Yard Sale (70MYS?) excursion have settled in, it's harder to corral them to get some good pictures. Missing from this non-exhaustive list are two genuine non-ironic vintage nature promo tees, a vintage Molson Canadian baseball tee, some retro kitchen stuff, some antique books and so forth. Pics to come, maybe! But for now:

Mixed in to our growing record collection were some Beach Boys and some 60's compilation discs. (Not really pictured.)

A handmade-in-Alberton-PEI mixed-wood pen holder, for, yes, $1.00

An enormous cobalt-and-turquoise vintage enamel flower pin so big, it eats other enamel flower pins.

A pristine, handmade vintage 60's turquoise dress. FOR TWO DOLLARS.

Vogue Strips, "Hi-Dro" - can you even buy these anymore? Whew. The set and papers were only eight bucks!

A Pyrex gravy dish saucer, to go with my gravy dish! Only a buck.

My new laptop bag!

Recently, my friend Krista brought her laptop over to do some work for the Jewellery for Japan sale we put together, and I was struck by her choice of laptop bag: a vintage suitcase! Coincidently, I had virtually the same suitcase in different colours, but had never thought of using it to transport my computer. I am incredibly finicky when it comes to bags (all through high school and university, I have slugged my textbooks around in stylish-but-not-very-sensible messenger bags and totes - not a sensible, durable schoolbag in sight), so seeing this was very inspiring. This is what my clunky PC will be dragged around in from here on:
